Crawler access
Whether AI crawlers are allowed in at all. We read your robots.txt for each of the retrieval bots that fetch pages to answer live questions, and check whether your hosting or security settings turn crawlers away before robots.txt is even consulted.

Readable without JavaScript
AI crawlers generally don't run JavaScript. If your words only appear after scripts load, as on many site builders and single-page apps, a crawler sees an empty page. We count the words in the HTML your server actually sends.

Structured data
Schema.org markup states facts like your business name, what you do and where you are in a form machines don't have to guess at. We look for it and specifically for an Organization or LocalBusiness block.

Answer surface
Your page title, meta description and main heading are the strings an AI assistant most often uses to label and summarize you. We check that each exists and says something specific.

Agent files
The files crawlers look for by name: an XML sitemap listing your pages, and llms.txt, a short plain-language guide to your site written for AI assistants.
If your site refuses our crawler outright, we say so and score only what we could measure. We never guess at a page we couldn’t read.

What does it mean if AI can't read my website?
When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI for a business like yours, the assistant often fetches web pages to build its answer. If your site blocks those crawlers or shows them an empty page, the assistant has to rely on other sources — or recommend someone else.
Why would my site block AI crawlers without me knowing?
Common causes are security plugins, a website builder's default settings, and CDN bot protection. Cloudflare, for example, started blocking AI crawlers by default on new domains in July 2025 and changed those defaults again in September 2026. None of these show an error, so the only way to know is to check.
Should I block GPTBot and other training bots?
That's a business choice, and this check doesn't score it. Training bots collect pages to train future AI models. Retrieval bots, like OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot, fetch pages to answer questions happening right now. Blocking retrieval bots is what keeps you out of AI answers.
Does this check tell me what ChatGPT says about my business?
No. This checks whether AI can read your website. What AI actually tells customers depends much more on your listings, reviews and how consistently your details appear across the web. Our free business check asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini directly.
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no email required, and nothing is posted or changed on your site. We make one polite visit to your homepage, robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt, the same way an AI crawler would.
